The Prairie Power, Inc. (PPI) Board of Directors continued its tradition of holiday giving in 2019, choosing to donate the funds budgeted for director gifts to local charities instead. The Board presented donations of $750 each to Midwest Youth Services, located in Jacksonville, IL, and Youth Services Bureau, located in Springfield, IL.
Midwest Youth Services (MYS) serves at-risk, runaway and homeless youth, ages 9-18. Its mission is to deter youth from the juvenile justice and child welfare systems while strengthening families. MYS’ services are free, confidential, with crisis intervention, mediation and emergency shelter available 24-hours per day, 7-days per week. MYS is the only agency providing these services in Brown, Cass, Schuyler, Scott and Morgan counties in Illinois.

The Youth Service Bureau (YSB) is a licensed child welfare agency that serves the needs of abused, neglected, homeless and at-risk youth ages 11-24. Its mission is to divert these youth from the juvenile justice and child welfare systems, keeping families intact and children in their homes. YSB’s mission also includes serving the needs of older adolescent homeless youth ages 16-24 by helping them become independent and self-sufficient.
