Safety is one of PPI’s core values. PPI has created a strong culture of safety through its safety awareness programs, protocols, and training for all employees. Employees are encouraged to discuss safety, make safety observations, share their experiences, and make recommendations for improvement.
PPI is committed to operating and maintaining its plants, power lines, substations, facilities, vehicles, and other equipment in the safest manner possible. PPI was recently recognized by the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives for its exemplary safety performance, earning the 2025 Best Loss Time Rate, 2025 Best Incident Rate, and 2025 RESAP Certificates of Achievement. Similar honors were received in 2024 for individual and cooperative-wide commitments to fostering a safe work environment.
PPI also prioritizes safety within the communities it serves. PPI is a proud member of SafeElectricity®, an award-winning, multimedia public awareness program of the Energy Education Council (EEC). Since the program’s creation in 2001, SafeElectricity® has been providing information to consumers and helping complement the safety education activities of utilities and educators.
